  • APPLICATIONS ENGINEER

    The Application Engineer provides advanced technical and applications support for solar thermal products. Supports the business unit’s growth objectives through providing technical information and assistance to sales, channel partners and end customers. Other duties include, but are not limited to;

    •    Design, model/simulate, and evaluate novel solar thermal systems
    •    Optimization of the solar field configuration using various commercial and proprietary computer codes
    •    Perform annual performance analysis on hourly basis. Include design variations such as heat storage, fossil backup etc to consider different scenarios.
    •    Performing heat transfer, flow and pressure calculations for heat exchangers, piping, pump etc.
    •    Create, interpret, and modify schematics, drawings, and plans using AutoCAD or other common drawing programs
    •    Creation of piping and instrumentation diagrams, process flow diagrams, and equipment specifications for various solar thermal applications

    Qualifications:
    •    A bachelor of science degree or M.S in the field of mechanical engineering
    •    At least 5 years experience in the field of solar thermal or HVAC
    •    EIT desired
    •    Experience in modeling and simulating solar thermal and/or HVAC system performance
    •    Strong background in fluid and thermal sciences
    •    Experience in solar thermal technologies is highly desirable
    •    Extensive knowledge of equipment selection/specifications, and working with equipment vendors
    •    Extensive knowledge of absorption cooling, rankine cycles and steam systems
    •    Ability to analyze and interpret engineering drawings
    •    Proficient with AutoCAD, Excel and MatLab
    •    Good written and communication and interaction skills
    •    Ability to travel both domestic and international
    •    Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with minimum supervision


  • QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER

    Location: Mainland China, Hong Kong, or Taiwan

     

    Summary: Plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    • Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.

    • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.

    • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.

    • Reviews all purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.

    • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.

    • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.

    • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.

    • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.

    • Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
    • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.

    • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.

    Education/Experience
    Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Ability
    English: Speak, read, and write
    Mandarin: Speak, read and write

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

    Math Ability
    Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.

    Reasoning Ability
    Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

    Computer Skills
    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Suite word processing software, spreadsheet software and presentation software.
